My writing and photography have taken a back seat recently, due to my husband undergoing emergency spinal surgery. Most of July was spent with him in a haze of morphine, but thankfully we’re now beginning to return to the usual life.

I took my camera into the garden today for the first time in a month. Almost forgotten how to use it, feeling rusty but hope to soon remember the things I’ve learned.

This is the flower of a cardoon plant, with a few insects attached.
